On June 12, Xiaobangguo, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Metallurgical Industry Planning and Research Institute, and his entourage visited Xingtai Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. for investigation. The two sides held talks and exchanges on Xinggang's construction of a green and low-carbon ecological circle and realization of high-quality development.
Zhang Yuming, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Xinggang, warmly welcomed Xiaobangguo and his entourage, and expressed sincere gratitude for their visit and guidance at the critical node of Xinggang's green transformation and upgrading. He pointed out that the transformation, upgrading, relocation and reconstruction of Xinggang bear the "dual mission" of promoting low-carbon reform in China's steel industry and supporting high-end manufacturing. Xinggang will take the internationally leading short-process technology of smelting reduction ironmaking + electric furnace steelmaking to lead the "revolutionary" innovation in the steel industry, and continue to make efforts in five dimensions including systematic energy efficiency improvement, waste resource recycling, clean energy, and carbon capture, finally achieving carbon neutrality, and building Xinggang into a world-class special steel benchmark enterprise marked by "innovation, intelligence, greenness and low carbon".
Combined with the national industrial policy orientation, market change trends and the recent visits and investigations of the Metallurgical Planning and Research Institute, President Xiaobangguo analyzed the current work priorities of Xinggang. He pointed out that with the acceleration of green and low-carbon transformation in the steel industry and the changes in downstream markets' demands for product quality, personalization and services, enterprises should accurately position their products, empower new product R&D and innovation with AI, and strive to build a green and low-carbon ecological circle. The new factory area should plan in advance, solidly promote the work of extreme energy efficiency, and actively create an industry energy efficiency benchmark; deepen product carbon footprint management and life cycle assessment, strengthen carbon data quality control, and timely build a carbon management and control platform based on carbon trading rules to enhance the enterprise's green competitiveness. At the same time, multiple measures should be taken to achieve low-cost operation with cost reduction as the core, and tap the potential of cost reduction and efficiency improvement starting from logistics optimization and water system optimization. In addition, it is necessary to strengthen brand building, take standards and certification as the starting point, improve the enterprise's image and credibility, and strengthen its soft power. President Xiaobangguo said that the Metallurgical Planning and Research Institute will give full play to its professional advantages and make every effort to serve the high-quality development of Xinggang.

At the meeting, Fan Peng, Deputy Director of the General Layout and Logistics Department of Metallurgical Industry Planning and Research Institute, Wu Jianguo, Senior Engineer of the Environmental Protection and Water Conservation Department, Chen Chuang, Engineer of the Energy Department, Gao Siwen, Engineer of the Metal Materials Department, and Huo Dongmei, Deputy Director of the Standards and Certification Center, shared their views on logistics cost reduction, water system governance, ultra-low emissions, energy efficiency benchmarks, carbon management and control platform construction, and all-round brand building respectively.
